Sunday night, I managed to get together with my friend to try out first gaming session. SWTOR is her first video game aside from solitaire so there is a huge learning curve and it continues. It’s rather interesting to watch a complete video game newbie learn the ropes of an MMO. As we started, both characters were level 13 and we had done very few missions on Dromund Kaas.
After playing my Jedi Knight to level 38, interest was waning so I thought I would try something completely different and start a new character. I decided to go with the Empire and create an Imperial Agent. I have a friend who has a level 12 Bounty Hunter so I figured that I might actually get a group together if I could catch up.
Disappointingly, I have found myself rather bored with Star Wars: The Old Republic after only 2 months of gameplay. I say “disappointingly” because I really expected this game to hold my attention far longer than this.
The game, for all its Star Wars goodness and voice acting has one serious fault.
There are two schools of thought regarding Crafting and economies in MMOs. The first one takes the opinion that crafting in a game is nothing more than a secondary process to provide buffs or a little extra for your character. The second considers crafting an integral part of the game that simulates a complete player run economy. Comparing the two is like comparing Kijiji and The Toronto Stock Exchange.

It’s inevitable. Whenever you get three people together to do something, politics will raise its ugly head. It’s in our nature to want to be right, no matter what the situation and, if there is a dissenting voice, we will work to have as many people take our side as we can in hopes of convincing others that our idea is best.
